Third graders assist in creating a classroom environment that is fun, responsible, caring and enthusiastic about learning. Students work continuously on building self-esteem and positive peer relationships.
Literacy: The Literacy Collaborative surrounds students with reading through their year with guided reading groups, shared reading and independent reading. The Accelerated Reading Program enhances students’ independent reading. They have opportunities to write in a variety of contexts and genres. We have poetry jams and Readers Theater throughout the year. Reading and writing are integrated into math, science and social studies.
Science includes: Life Science: Water habitat, water cycle, matter and the metric system. Earth Science: moon, sun and weather. Physical Science: Simple machines and motion.
Social Studies: Government, economics, geography and history all centered on the town of Rumney.
Math: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten and Fractions, Measurement and Data and Geometry
Welcome to fourth grade at R.E.S. This year we will explore different genres in reading and writing. Our Math program Math Connects, includes concepts, skills, and everyday problem solving. We will study geography and NH history in Social Studies. We will be exploring our state through a variety of field trips. In Science we will cover skeletal and muscular systems, ecosystems, the micro world, NH Geology, magnetism, and electricity.
