Russell Elementary School Information

Russell Elementary School serves approximately 105 students in Kindergarten through 8th grade who reside in the town of Rumney, NH.  As a Responsive Classroom School, our staff and students are united through common practices and goals.  Our core values are “RESpectful” and “RESponsible”.  These foundational concepts are modeled throughout our school and programs.

We have a talented and experienced staff of highly qualified teachers and support personnel dedicated to the Rumney community. Our school supports many community events, including Open House; monthly PTO sponsored events; fall and spring theatre productions and music concerts; and, our annual Thanksgiving Dinner and spring Community Picnic.  Rumney Rangers, our 21st Century Community Learning Center and Rumney-resident funded after school and summer program, keeps our lights on and our students productively engaged and well-fed and cared for until 5:45 PM daily and for 5 weeks each summer.

We are excited to offer our students' technology tools for enhanced learning.  All our classrooms include LCD projector systems, interactive whiteboards, and document cameras.  In addition, we have one-to-one personal computers for students in grades 3-8 and one-to-one iPads in our K-2 classrooms.  We strive to engage each of our students to promote life-long learning and respectful and responsible citizenship.

I have lived my whole life immersed in the awesome culture and climate of the lakes region of New Hampshire.  I have a B.A. in Chemistry from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH, and a MEd. in Science Education, as well as, a CAGS in School Leadership from Plymouth State University.  I taught Chemistry at the New Hampton School for 24 years, serving as Academic Dean/Dean of Faculty for the last 12 of those years.  Following NHS, I served as a teaching principal at Piermont Village School for 7 years prior to coming to Russell Elementary School in the summer of 2014.

At RES, we strive to engage all students in rich learning experiences including student government, robotics, world languages through Middlebury online courses, community-based learning experiences that embrace our geographic location, and immersion in authentic reading, writing, and problem-solving at each students’ preferred level. The Rumney Community and Russell Elementary School staff and students are beyond compare!  Our teachers are talented and experienced, and exceptionally dedicated to the growth of their students; we are motivated to serve our community every day.

The Facilities Department of Russell Elementary School consists of two dedicated and skilled employees who strive to keep our school clean and safe for all of our students.  We use environment and people-friendly chemicals and up to date cleaning equipment to help keep our school clean. Also, more often than not, you will see one of us repairing something whether it be a desk or a student’s sneaker.  On days that students are on vacation or have a snow day, we are hard at work refinishing floors and painting or doing a number of other less routine but important chores.  We are proud to be a part of the Russell Elementary School team.
